It’s been an uneventful Sunday. I went for a walk yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours and picked up Fleetwood Mac’s Greatest Hits CD at the used CD store. I rented a couple of movies, too – Free Enterprise, which was a somewhat silly new release about a couple of trekkers who meet William Shatner and find their views of him utterly shattered. Definitely a ‘turning thirty’ issues movie. Cute, lots of obscure references to fantasy, lots of quoted star wars & star trek dialogue, but a bit slow at times. I rented City of Angels, too. I’ve seen it before, a year and a half ago, but Jay hadn’t seen it, and I was in the mood for a good girl movie. I liked City of Angels. It doesn’t let me down as a girl movie, and it has some nice introspective qualities.
Sera’s sitting on my lap being cuddly and cute. She’s good at that when she wants to be. Dayle’s lying on the ottoman, and when I came inside from returning the movies I just tossed a flannel shirt on the ottoman without noticing that it landed on him. He’s still sleeping.
Tomorrow is a holiday, Victoria Day (also known as May 2-4.) There’s a concert down at ashbridges bay, and some fireworks. Great Big Sea, Train, Amanda Marshall, Rubber, and one or two other bands will be there. I really like Great Big Sea, I’ve seen them about 7 times. I know one song by Train, “Meet Virginia,” I want to see what the rest of their material is like. Amanda Marshall is okay, not someone I’d likely pay to see, but I like her music. The other bands I’m not at all familiar with. The fireworks were really nice last year, too. I hope there’s not as many people setting off ‘home fireworks’ around us this year – we almost had fire raining on us last year. It was definitely too crowded for the amount of home-set fireworks going off.
It’s nearly summer. I almost miss the days when summer meant a couple of months off, except I remember how bored I got during those months off… so I guess I don’t really miss it at all.
Book Deadline is July 1st. Someone please encourage me to get writing this thing. I haven’t even started yet.
