One method to get rid of phone phobias

Hmm. I’ve learned something today. The best way to get rid of your telephone-phobias are to become a relief receptionist. Interesting how using an advanced phone system can get your adrenaline going. I’m all shakey. I really am scared of phones. Breathe in, breathe out. Woot. Okay then.

It’s not so bad really, I just get flustered. I kept nearly answering the line with “Good Afternoon, Long & McQuade,” which was where I used to work. Oops. Oh well, I managed to catch myself. 😉 It’s all good. This will get me to meet the people who are in charge of the company, so it’s all good. Yeth.

Someone accidentally transferred someone who wanted accounts payable to my desk phone this afternoon. I nearly panicked, especially since I have no idea who “accounts payable” is. So, after a minute of deliberating (and checking to see if there was an outlook alias with a phone number for “accounts payable”) I called the front desk, then transferred her to them.

I’m worried I’m going to hang up on someone or send them to the wrong person or whatever… I know they’re going to have to leave me alone and all, but I’m not really looking forward to it yet.

    I know what you mea…

Be careful, the next stage is when you start to answer your home phone with the work greeting. Then the dreaded final stage… answering phones in your dreams… not a pretty sight! I can see why AT&T switched automated operator systems. They coldn’t afford the mental breakdowns on the healthcare coverage!
    Hehehe… you ok?

Re: I know what you mea….

I’ve already answered my home phone with “Good afternoon, Long & McQuade…” then corrected myself. I always check who’s calling before I answer though (that’s why I pay for call display, damnit!)

I dream in computer games I’ve played too much. It’s very strange. 🙂 I could see that happening with phones too…
