In my quest for nightmares amongst my old scattered papers, I found a page that I wrote in 1993 or so. I used to write stuff randomly, never showing it to anyone. Anyhow, I was about 16 or so when I wrote this… and since I’ve never put it anyplace before, I thought I’d put it here.

Do all people have secrets? Little quirks of their personalities that they would never willingly show anybody (Unless they really felt they wanted to?) Like some celibate businessman who spends his life on portable phones and in meetings with important people, but also has a secret longing to create artwork with pasta noodles… Or some practical university student who succeeds in all that she does, but really, truly wishes she could just once see a unicorn.

Are these desires subconscious, or are they known and either accepted or ignored? If they are accepted, do they emerge with time or are they always kept a secret? Can people achieve the knowledge and success that they want and still, somehow, find a way to give these secret desires life? If these quirks truly exist, what is yours? What about your best friend’s, or your brother’s or sister’s, or your parents? And what is mine?
