Suspect email…

I just got this email at my rocketmail address, and it went directly into my ‘bulk mail’ folder. That, in itself, tells me that this email is most likely spam. I haven’t clicked the link yet to find out if it’s real… I’m suspecting that it’s just really fancy spam. I haven’t really decided yet if it’s worth going to check out…

Hi Jen,

A friend has sent you a joke e-greeting card. This is NOT
junk mail. Someone who really knows you has sent you a
unique, personalized online greeting card.

The fun of this joke e-greeting is for your friend to remain
anonymous until you pick up your e-greeting card, at the
below web address. Once you pick up your e-greeting card,
your friend’s name will be revealed.

PICK UP your personalized e-greeting card by visiting here:

http://cgi.slygreetings.com/ann/ann.pl?auth=751l4KTEyhwq5aNw217

(PLEASE NOTE: Only visit the above link if you have a
few minutes to spare, and if you have a sense of humor.)

Your e-greeting will be available for pick up for the next 10 days only.

It’s one of those pages that make you click OK on a LOT of dialog windows. Like, hundreds. And the window kept reopening when I managed to close it. Ended up crashing Mozilla for me.

Last time I gave someone a page that did that, they didn’t talk to me again for weeks 🙂 It was probably marked as junk mail just because it didn’t have your rocketmail email address in the To: header.

As for the warning, you will need a few minutes, but it isn’t that funny after a while, even with a sense of humour.

the trick to closing all the windows is to be faster with your mouse than the page is reloading. if you can close the page before the code that tells a window to automatically reopen loads, then nothing will happen. btw, you’ve got a friend who’s recieved some odd replys to this here online joke dealy from me, just to warn ya. it’s all part of the thing…

It’s hard to close things that fast on a good DSL connection 😉

I went through to the end. I should have memorized his email, but his name is Neal.

And yeah, he got some email from me too. I think that’s a perfect revenge for annoying egreetings like that 😉

    DON”T DO IT!

It is a very annoying ecard. Takes about ten minutes and you just click click click. It does give you a chance to tell the sender off though. 😉
