So what else could be wrong with me?

My doctor’s office called (the normal doctor, not one of my cardiologists,) this morning. I went in for my physical in late June or so, complete with internal exam and pap and such. Oh the fun of it all.

Now it seems that something strange or mildly to be of concern has appeared, although I don’t really know what, and I’m not going to worry about it right now… The doctor wants me to come back in for another pap in six months, instead of a year like normal. So in February back I go.

Am I worried? Should I be? The doctor tries not to put you through these exams more than once a year because they are intrusive and nobody really wants to get them done… the only reason she would want me back is if she saw something a bit odd and wants to follow up on it, see if anything has changed. It obviously isn’t enough to be really worried about, since she doesn’t want me to come back in right away… but there is some cause for concern.

So my procedure date is December 6th. I have to figure out between now and then how to save up some money to help my mom fly out here for that. I also have to work to not get freaked out about it, since it’s a relatively simple procedure.

So, what else? Might as well pile it all on this week. Figure out how much more I can handle before I break, or something. I’ve still got some strength left. Bring it on.

I just went through that this summer too, and now I have to have paps every three months until they determine that my abnormality is normal for me. I think they really need to re-define “normal” i hear about so many people who have to go through this for no reason at all.

    You’ll be fine, I promise.

A few years ago, I had an “abnormal” smear, and for about 3 years had to have tri-monthly repeats. Nothing ever came of it, and I was discharged from the hospital about 3 years ago. Mostly it’s done as a precautionary measure when something’s not quite as it should be. I’d rather have the regular smears to be safe than not have them and end up seriously ill because I didn’t.

    I wouldn’t worry about it 🙂

I had that happen when I was pregnant with Olivia – the retake was done because the first one wasn’t taken properly! That could be all it is – if it’s serious they would of had you get one done within a month I am sure! =)

Sounds like abnormal PAP smear results, but nothing to really worry about. If more than two come back positive, then they’ll go from there and let you know. It’s just precautionary.

an abnormal pap is not a big deal – could be anything. but because it’s something they can easily check, they do. and if it’s something like a pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-cancerous slight abnormality, they can laser it immediately and everyone is happy. (i had this done a long time ago, and it was a breeze)

of all the things in the world to worry about, an abnormal pap test is not one of them 🙂
