How strange…

A moment ago, I thought I heard a woman’s voice talking softly behind me. I assumed that it was because the tv was on. About a minute later I turned to talk to Adam about something, and realized that the tv wasn’t on. He’s reading a book on the couch. It felt a bit weird.

In other news… One of Sera’s back toenails got ripped out somehow last week. We haven’t been letting her out since then because of it. Today, Dayle got stupid freaky and beat on her for a while, and now the ripped toenail wound is open again. We came home from Adam’s grandfather’s birthday party to find blood on the carpet and the kitchen floor. Good thing it cleans up easily. Sera seems fine, though, she’s just moving slower than she usually does. Dayle, on the other hand, looks quite insane.

I learned today that Orthodox Jewish families don’t use toilet paper on the sabbath. Something about tearing paper being a form of work and all work is forbidden on the sabbath. I suppose, since I was in an orthodox house, I could’ve been respectful and not used toilet paper myself… but I guess I’m just a disrespectful bitch. I tore paper. But hey, I’m not an orthodox jew, so I don’t think the rule really applies to me. And no one escorted me to the bathroom to make sure I didn’t use it.

Religion makes little sense to me sometimes.

Dayle has been staring at Adam’s hand for five minutes. He’s starting to creep me out a bit. I think he’s lost what little sanity he had left.

I observe the Sabbath too, but umm.. That’s going a leeeeeeeeetle bit too far. Seriously.

Yah… that’s sort of what I thought. All sorts of things occur to me that they just can’t do on the sabbath… and it’s not because God told them as such, but because their religious leaders did. Like I said, it just doesn’t make much sense to me, that way. I understand observing the Sabbath, and how important it is to many people, but it seems to me sometimes that things get misunderstood or taken out of context or something, sometimes, and that part just confuses me.

Well actually it is one of the ten commandments but back in the day the Pharisees made the Sabbath a burden, which it isn’t supposed to be.. So they are going by that.

The ten commandments change? I know the whole not working on the sabbath thing is important, but not tearing paper specifically… how did that get to be part of it?

They seem to base most of their faith on shame. That can’t make you a happy person. :/

Wow, that’s incredible. It’s totally not supposed to be like that. Ahh well, that’s what happens when people twist and turn the real meaning of things.

Heh… wouldn’t surprise me if there was a ghost in here, considering how the cats carry on staring at nothing all the time…

I thought about that, but nothing was pre-torn. Maybe there are rules against that?
