Cat emergency of the day:

Dayle started bleeding this morning. Lots of blood… more blood than he really should have been dripping on our kitchen floor. We got gauze and tape and tried to wrap it up – he wasn’t impressed with us (I have bite marks and scratches as proof of this.)

Took him to the vet around 12:30 or so. They saw him right away (mostly because of the blood that was all over him and the cat cage I’d stuffed him into) and shaved his tail. I had to hold him for this. I learned a better way to hold cats when you need to shave them or bandage them.

They gave him a couple of shots, cleaned the wound up and bandaged him all up, then kept him at the vet for a couple of hours. I feel bad for our company, having to watch us deal with a cat that’s bleeding all over the place and such… makes us somewhat ineffective hosts.

So now Dayle’s home again with a bandage on his tail. He doesn’t look thrilled, but he’s too drugged to really do much of anything besides sit in the window and look unthrilled. I’ve been walking around cleaning up the blood in the carpet.

I feel drained by all this. And much poorer. But you do what you have to to keep your cat from bleeding to death. Yes, even Dayle.

We’re both feeling a lot better now. He’s back to being as annoying as he possibly can, at least.

Good thing we’re moving in with a vet in a week…

Not really sure… he goes outside every once in a while, and I’m guessing he got bit by a coon or a dog or something, but he cleaned it before he came home – and it didn’t heal properly, so it got infected. The vet said he had a fever, too. At any rate, it was definitely a bite – puncture holes on both sides of the base of his tail. He was in a lot of pain. 🙁 He seems to be feeling a lot better now, though.

Thanks… Dayle would appreciate it if he wasn’t whining and crying at the door to be let outside…

Jesus, I’m notorious for not being fond of the little guy, but I am so sorry! I hope he’ll be okay and if there is anything I can do, please let me know.
