I’ve been reading The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson for the past few weeks – got it from the library. It’s unfortunately a very slow read, though. Neat concept, rewriting history and stuff, but it hasn’t gripped me at all. I think maybe the problem is it spans too long a time. Since the beginning of the book a few hundred years have gone by, and small things happen in each segment of the book, but it seems like nothing’s really happening. They discovered America, horray. They’re starting the scientific process to discover gravity, yahoo. It’s all very well and good, but it’s too much like a History book I guess… a bit too dry for me. And I liked history!

Going to do some scanning today. No, really.

Must find something for lunch first, however. I like food.

ANYTHING by Kim Stanley Robinson is a painfully slow read.
