Today was busy enough. I went out shopping with mom to Michael’s craft superstore, which was having a 25% off everything sale from 9 until noon. Picked up some stocking stuffers and yarn, and a Thai cookbook for myself because I love thai food. Afterwards went to the bank and paid the hydro bill (I said we’d pay it for the past few months, since we’re not paying rent at the moment) and then came home and had perogies for lunch. It was good.

After lunch I spent the rest of the afternoon on the computer, mostly working on a basic website for Merv’s company. The overall design is done, I just need the rest of the information to actually put up on the site and it’ll be set. I’m sure by the end of it I’ll know way more about SCADA solutions than I ever dreamed of knowing…

Mom and Merv are watching Harry Potter: POA in the living room. I started watching it with them, then wandered off, as I tend to do with tv these days. Adam’s been at work all day. Tomorrow maybe I’ll go for a bike ride, if it’s nice, and play some Sims 2. I’ve only actually played it once, and that’s just not enough.

Mom made rice krispy squares. I am so wanting another one. I checked the nutritional information on marshmallows and established that 30g of marshmallows contains 18g of sugar. Yikes. Not surprising, but yikes.

I’ll have to work on Adam’s site this weekend too. I’ve been thinking about learning CSS for it, but I just haven’t had the ambition yet. Tonight I think I may knit instead of do web design. Except I have the wrong size of knitting needles for the pattern I want to do… this makes me sad.

About two months ago, my knowledge of web page design was pretty much limited to the way HTML was about 10 years ago… meaning doing up tables was the fanciest thing I knew. Then I started to work on my new site (http://www.luxography.ca/), and immersed myself into the world of XHTML 1.1 and CSS2. I gotta say, it has been the most educational and fun experience I’ve had in a long time. It is simply amazing what you can do with CSS these days, but also frustrating because of stupid browser incompatibilities (mostly with Internet Explorer, which unfortunately is the most popular browser out there). I can certainly give you some tips based on what I’ve learned, if you need pointers or help.

I’ll probably be looking at it some tomorrow. I’ll email you if I need some tips. 🙂

Sure, no prob. I love trying to figure out the correct way to use XHTML and CSS to produce the visual layout I want. So geeky. 🙂
