Yeah…so I’ve been reeled into American Idol too.

Who is your hopeful to win?

I rather like David Cook. His Billie Jean was outstanding. He wasn’t totally strong this week, but every other week he’s been awesome.

Otherwise, I really like Carly Smithson’s voice, and I’m disappointed that Amanda Overmyer (she rocked out!) and Chikezie were voted off. Also, Brooke is good, but I don’t really think she has the staying power to win the whole thing. She’s more acoustic singer/songwriter style than superstar idol type.

Hehehe…Dave Cook is probably both mine and Bran’s least favorite. I dunno what it is about him that I really dislike. He has a great voice (although last night he was really subpar compared to his other performances). That said…not my thing…but objectively he has my bet to win it right now.

I’ve been a huge Chris Cornell fan for a long time (except for his Audioslave stuff)…His work with Soundgarden and his solo albums are great. …So seeing Dave Cook do Chris Cornell’s Billie Jean arrangement…beh. Well done, but I don’t think people got that it wasn’t his arrangement.

My favorite is Carly…but she really needs a dose of originality in her act or she’s going to sink. Brooke is a super-talent in her niche, like you said…the singer/songwriter thing. Yeah.

Amanda Overmeyer…fun…very likable…but a bit of a one trick pony in context of Idol. Kacheezy…well…pretty cheesy, with a couple of REALLY bright moments. Can’t remember the song that he completely rocked…but it surprised our general dismissal of him.

Yeah, I totally got that his version of billie jean was Chris Cornell’s… I just haven’t heard it. He did say so outright though, if people were paying attention. In fact I think only one of the songs he’s done has been his own arrangement – the one last week I think? The rest were basically lifts from artists he likes. Still, love his voice.

Chikezie & Amanda both had the same problem – pretty niche. I loved Chickezie’s I’ve just seen a Face (he basically did the arrangement from Across the Universe, which is an awesome movie.) Amanda I liked because she was different. Adam REALLY wanted to see her stay in it, but I didn’t think she’d get that far.
