Why do we deify the famous dead? Elvis, John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, Jim Morrisson, Jerry Garcia… people go to their graves to pay their respects, museums are created to celebrate their lives, and people seem to forget that in the beginning, they were all just people. I’ve never figured that out, and I don’t know if I ever will. Buddha was just a guy, too, and they literally turned him into a god…

    Dead People

When I die, I hope they make a memorium for me. And everyone comes and celebrates my life.
Or at least comes and thanks god they were not as fucked up as I was. 😉

    in the highest regard…..

unfortunately, humans have the tragic character flaw of not recognizing brilliance when it’s right in front of them. death is a late wake-up call for us, a chance to say, ‘ wow, they did rock’ and try to overcompensate for our ignorance by morphing these new-found role models into saints and worshipping them dutifully.
oh, the Doors do absolutely kick ass though. 😉
