Adam, Tara and I have returned from our adventures on Vancouver Island. Tofino was lovely, as per all reports, although the hail, snow, thunderstorm, windstorm, and freezing temperatures were rather unfortunate camping conditions.

I’ll talk more about it when I’m done with the photos, because really, this is a story that requires photos.

In the meantime, highlights and thoughts:

  • Holy crap I want to learn to surf. When it’s warm, and not ice-raining or hailing on me.
  • Four hour waits for a ferry can actually be pretty entertaining if you do it right.
  • Humpback whales are cool enough to look at, but seals are more entertaining somehow.
  • Victoria is very reminiscent of Ottawa
  • The road to Tofino is really freakin’ scary when it snows.
  • Seafood on the west coast of Vancouver island is like no seafood I’ve ever had before.
  • King size beds are just too big.
  • 629 is the magic number

A King size bed is just right when you have to make room for a puppy too. Trust me on this one 🙂 They are also good when your spouse tends to sleep in ways that try to take up all available space on the bed. It is much harder for them to accomplsh this in a king size.

Hmm. I can see your point there. My spouse prefers to sleep with appendages dangling off the side and/or end of the bed, so a King size bed feels very, very large.

        Someday we’ll have a puppy…

Well, when I’m not in bed, Shar tends to build a fort out of pillows around her in the bed. She says it makes her feel more comfortable. I think she is just making it hard for me to get my pillows… 🙂
